Beginner’s Guide to CBD Vape Oil

The use of vape pens has skyrocketed in recent years, especially amongst millennials and the GenZ crowd. According to BBC, “The number of vapers has been increasing rapidly – from about seven million in 2011 to 41 million in 2018.” The report also estimates that the number of adults who vape will reach almost 55 million by 2021.

So what is vaping?

Vaping is the process of inhaling vapors or aerosols produced by an electronic, battery-powered smoking device. It offers a much healthier alternative to traditional smoking. They have cartridges filled with a liquid – cannabis oil or nicotine oil (two very common but different vaping categories). The liquid is heated into a vapor, which the person inhales. However, in 2019, several vaping-related deaths put a damper on the vape industry. This is why it is more important than ever to educate consumers about what they are inhaling. Most vape companies use additives and thinning agents that can pose a series of medical threats, such as sore throats or popcorn lungs. At TribeTokes, we pride ourselves on being pioneers of “clean vaping” with our CBD vape oils.

What are CBD vape oils?

Vaping is one of the faster and easier methods of consuming CBD. CBD or cannabidiol, a chemical found in the cannabis and hemp plant, is known for its therapeutic benefits that may help us deal with a host of wellness issues. CBD vape oil is a form of CBD oil that is mixed with a carrier liquid that has been processed as a vaping oil.

What are the benefits of vaping CBD oil?

Vaping is an easy and convenient way to consume CBD for a few main reasons:

  1.  CBD may help you feel relaxed or ease aches, but you won’t get high.
  2. It is a much cleaner alternative to smoking. Vaping works more like a humidifier which means it is easier on the lungs.
  3. Vapes don’t go “bad” – CBD usually breaks down into CBN, which is another relaxing cannabinoid found in hemp plants.
  4. Vaping offers higher bioavailability (up to 70%) compared to other consumption methods, which means CBD enters the bloodstream faster.
  5. CBD vapes are discreet and odorless.

What are the different types of CBD oil?

Before you choose a CBD vape for yourself, it is essential to understand the different types of CBD oils:

Full Spectrum CBD: Full-spectrum contains all naturally occurring compounds found in the hemp plant like CBD, other cannabinoids, terpenes, and essential oils, including a negligible THC content — below 0.3%. “The full spectrum of the active compounds extracted from hemp work together to amplify the health benefits of each individual cannabinoid.” This phenomenon is called the entourage effect.

CBD Isolates: CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD, made by extracting it from the pant and removing it from all other components.

Broad Spectrum CBD oil: Broad-spectrum CBD is a mix between full-spectrum and CBD isolate. It contains cannabidiol and all the other naturally occurring plant compounds, excluding THC.

What are harmful vape ingredients should you avoid?

Vaping isn’t something to take lightly. As we have already mentioned, it is necessary to understand what is in your vape and what compounds you should look out for. Since CBD is not FDA regulated, here is a list of ingredients that many companies will put that may be dangerous to your health:

Vegetable Glycerin: Vegetable Glycerin or VG is the compound responsible for the thick smoke associated with the vapes. While it seems to be an ingredient strictly for visual effect, it can be extremely toxic to your lungs.

Coconut oil: Most vape companies use coconut oil as a thinning agent. It contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) fats. While it may be safe to ingest, smoking can cause lung infections.

Propylene Glycol: Propylene Glycol or PG, also used as a thinning agent, can increase exposure to harmful carcinogenic compounds when vaped. PG can also convert into harmful toxins at high temperatures.

Polyethylene Glycol: Polyethylene Glycol or PEG is an additive used as a solvent. When heated, one inhale of a vape containing PEG contains 1.12% of the daily exposure limit to formaldehyde.

Having said that, at Tribe Tokes, we strive to provide consumers with a full spectrum CBD distillate that uses plant terpenes and no thinning agents. No MCT, PG, PEG, VG, or Vitamin E Acetate. In addition, our CBD vape cartridges are entirely 100% hemp-based CBD, providing users with a superior CBD vaping experience. You can choose from three different strains to give you the potential benefit you’re looking for:

  • Indica: CBD strain for stress-relief, calming anxiety, and mellowing out,
  • Sativa: CBD strain for more energizing and uplifting effects, and
  • Hybrid: A mix between Indica and Sativa, so you get the balancing benefits of both.

Tribe Tokes offer a host of strain-specific CBD vape oils like Northern Lights, Juicy Fruit, Sour Tsunami, Remedy CBD, and so on that leave you spoilt for choices. Be smart, vape wisely, and embrace plant medicine through clean vaping.
