How to Speed up Your PC

The PC industry is growing with a massive $1.4 billion market expansion by the end of 2025. With the increase in remote work and available computers, you’re bound to encounter some slowdown issues.

Several factors can slow your PC down. Some of these are fixable solutions with only a few steps. Things like cutting memory-intensive applications and clearing your cache can help restore speed to your PC.

This short guide will give you a few examples of how to speed up your PC.

Using The Run Application

Navigating to the Run program can allow you to run different files to help your laptop repair. This can allow you to dive deeper into the computer functions and increase laptop speed.

Hit Windows+R on your keyboard for a quick shortcut to the Run application. The %temp% function will allow you to access the temp folder.

As the name says, this folder will keep a list of temporary files that are free to clean after booting your PC. You will see various files like SQM files that can accumulate a lot of space on your hard drive.

Left-click and scroll to the bottom of this folder and shift-click the last file. This will select all files available. You can right-click and select delete from the drop-down menu.

You can also drag and drop to the recycle bin. Make sure to empty your recycle bin afterward to clear the deleted files.

Clearing The Prefetch Folders

Typing prefetch will open up the prefetch folder as well. This folder contains files that help your CPU load programs at a faster rate.

Delete the PF files within the prefetch folder to help speed up your PC. The processes will use CPU to help pre-load these applications using these PF Files.

Clearing files in the recycle bin and utilizing hard drive space will help a slow laptop.

Many common computer problems add intensity to your boot speed and performance. Some problems may require a more serious kind of laptop repair.

Power Options & How To Speed Up Your PC

The control panel is a useful application to help minimize the system’s processes. It can also help performance by decreasing power usage.

Open the control panel and navigate to Power Options. This grants you a selection of power plans. There is an option called Balanced (recommended) that will balance energy consumption.

High performance is used for speeding up your PC. But, balanced power can help combat stress to your PC.

Select Change plan settings to alter the power plan. Opening the advanced power settings can allow you to customize various power plans.

Expand the option processor power management. Select minimum processor state from the drop-down menu. Set this to 0%. Then, set your maximum processor state to 100 percent.

This will allow more control over your processor’s activity.

Laptop Repair & Computer Performance

Many factors are contributing to your PC’s speed and performance. Some spyware and viruses are undetectable as they attach themselves to your computer.

You can always enter safe mode if these issues render your operating system useless. This is a safe way to help detect more serious problems occurring within your PC.

Entering safe mode can help you list your processes and detect unusual activity.
